The Story Behind that Couples Boudoir Shoot You're Seeing Everywhere
The story behind that couples boudoir session you're seeing everywhere
When this couple got naked for a bridal boudoir shoot, they had no idea they were going to go viral.
Many people turn to boudoir photography in hopes of feeling sexier, more beautiful, and more comfortable in their skin. Undressing and posing for a camera can be a liberating experience, and a soon-to-be-married couple found that doing it with a partner can be even more empowering.
Arryn and Stephanie * recently modeled for Bria Terry of Wolf & Rose Photography in a couple studio session. Terry captured the couple's captivating romance in a series of intimate lakeside photos. Although boudoir photography is stark in and of itself, the couples boudoir provides photographers with the opportunity to capture the intensity of a couple's connection, something Terry did masterfully in this shoot.
Terry recently uploaded the photos to Facebook and the internet moved. Social media users noticed that there was something about these snapshots that seemed like love was reduced to its essence, and the photos went viral in no time. This session seems more pure to me, Stephanie told Brides. You can show your real connection mentally and physically. In the normal type of shoot, with clothes, you can't portray that too. It's more smiling and 'Hey! Look at the camera!' I don't think Arryn and I really looked at the camera during our entire session.
After seeing such electric sparks, we had to call the Texan couple to tell the backstory and listen to their advice to empower other couples to undress their love:
Let's hear about chapter one of their relationship.
Arryn: I was browsing Instagram with a friend of mine and I showed him a photo of Stephanie. He was like, "Dude, you have to text him." I did, and then she replied the next day.
But you never met IRL until your first date?
Stephanie: Right. Back then I was working night shifts at a fast food restaurant, so we went to Dennys around 11 p.m. after leaving work. We stay there for 3-4 hours and we just sit and talk the whole time. If you can spend four hours in a restaurant like nothing, especially on a first date, you know there is something there
And how did he propose it?
Stephanie: We were binge-watching Sons of Anarchy last February and it was late. I think it was like 2 in the morning. He said, So, you know that I love you and I want to spend the rest of my life with you. After continuing with this cute spiel, he reached behind her back, grabbed the ring and asked, "Will you be with me for the rest of your life?" It's funny because, you know, some guys will do the whole big thing. so women know it's coming, but this caught me completely off guard.
Date nights are the best dates for you. How did the idea for this photo shoot come about?
Stephanie: Personally, I have always liked looking at boudoir photo shoots. I think they are really fantastic in the way they show women, so that was something I had always wanted to try. But it was actually Arryn who came up with the idea of doing a couples photoshoot.
What do you think a boudoir-style session offers couples, as opposed to the more conventional fully dressed option? How was the experience? How did you feel?
Arryn: Oh man.
Stephanie: [Laughs] The last time we did this, you didn't have to answer anything. So now you're putting it in a bind and I love it.
Arryn: I felt very uncomfortable at first because, like, I was half naked and I had never been photographed shirtless, especially not in the water with jeans on. But then it softened and we went with the flow, and it turned out pretty good. I felt more comfortable in the end.
